Maths Week 2019 was an extremely busy week in Ballyduff National School. Classes participated in cross class collaborations, Maths trails, Izak9, problem solving sessions, explored practical hands on and real life Maths situations. Please check out variety of photos here which depict the various events which took place during Maths Week.
Izak9 is always very popular and was used by all the senior classes
We can also see some of our senior students working collaboratively to complete tangrams during numeracy stations throughout Maths week. These resources give you an idea into the initiatives and methodologies used in the teaching of Maths in Ballyduff National School throughout the year.
The Junior classes were busy making 2D shapes, following Maths trails and constructing 2D shapes.
Senior classes were also busy participating in Maths eyes challenges, group problem solving sessions, Maths for fun time, developing skip counting skills and completing a Maths trail around the wider school environment.
Thank you to Rang 5 who prepared a Maths quiz for the younger children. It was delivered in the form of a ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ type quiz. It was a really great quiz which challenged the children to think quickly and use all the mental Maths strategies they had developed to choose the correct answers.
