March 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians,

A few items for your attention:

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seo Seachtain na Gaeilge. Beidh na daltaí ag foghlaim dánta agus amhráin agus ag imirt cluichí as gaeilge i rith na seachtaine seo. Is féidir leatsa cúpla focail a rá freisin más maith leat. Tá liosta frasaí ar an taobh eile chun cabhrú leat. Bain triail as!

The I.N.T. O. Mini-7 Soccer Competition

The INTO mini-7 boys soccer blitz took place last week. Pupils from fifth and sixth classes took part. They were narrowly beaten by Portlaw N.S. but had a comprehensive win against Waterpark N.S. Congratulations to all who took part and thanks to Mr. Carey for organizing the team. There will also be a Five-a-side national soccer competition taking place this coming Thursday for U-13 boys. We wish them luck!

World Book Day

Last Thursday was World Book Day. All classes participated in reading and writing activities during the week and many pupils wrote their own books for the occasion. During our school assembly, pupils read from their books, spoke about their favourite characters/authors and dramatized their stories. Every pupil in the school has been given a book token worth €1.50 which is valid in all bookshops until the end of March. These can be exchanged for a free mini-book or can be deducted from the cost of a book. We encourage pupils to make good use of their vouchers.

Book Fair

The Parents Association are organizing a One Euro Book Sale on Friday the 20th of March from 2-3pm in the school hall. We ask pupils to donate a book or two on the day and to bring a small sum of money to buy books. We hope to raise funds to help pay for the dancing classes. We will send a text reminder next week.

School Closure 16th + 17th of March

We remind you that the school will be closed on Monday and Tuesday next, the 16th and 17th of March. We reopen on Wednesday the 18th of March. All classes will be visited by the Diocesan Religious Advisor Sr. Antoinette Dilworth on that day. This is always an enjoyable occasion for children in which they can show and tell what they have learned in Religion class during the year.
