Second Class have been learning about the amazing work that Bóthar do in some of the worlds poorest countries. Bóthar send farm animals to families in need, which is a life changing gift for the recipients, many of whom do not have clean water or enough food. These animals will provide milk, food and an income, which can be used to send children to school, pay for medicine and build new homes.
The children of second class have generously given money, following their First Holy Communion, and have raised a whopping €530 to donate to Bòthar.
Olivia, a spokesperson from the charity, visited Ballyduff N.S. to receive the cheque and tell us more about what the donation will cover:
A life changing dairy heifer
A water filtration system
A share in a trio of rabbits
An egg laying guinea fowl
It also covers the cost of transportation of the animals, training of the family who will receive the animals and veterinary support.
Well done to all the children who donated to this fantastic charity.
